Dick Askin has officially been named chairman of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences -- the organization that presents the Emmy Awards -- after a vote by the board of governors Wednesday night.
The election was largely a formality, since Askin was running unopposed to replace Bryce Zabel, the current chairman, who had announced in May that he wouldn't seek a second two-year term. Askin is the president of Tribune Entertainment, a part of the Tribune Co., as is the Los Angeles Times.
