A Familiar Beat for Babe With Rhythm

LOS ALAMITOS BOB MIESZERSKI

February 06, 2003|BOB MIESZERSKI

After two futile tries against better, Babe With Rhythm is back in at the level of her last victory in tonight's fifth race, a $20,000 claimer for 3-year-old fillies at 300 yards.

Owned by Tim Weeks and trained by John Cooper, the daughter of Red Hot Rhythm was off the board in the Diamond Bar and Denim N Diamonds handicaps in her first two starts after being claimed out of a victory last Nov. 9. Drawn outside in the compact field of six, Babe With Rhythm will be ridden by Sam Thompson.

The Royal Music, who has two seconds and a first in her last three starts, could be the main threat to Babe With Rhythm. Owned and trained by Felix Gonzalez, she was just second at this level.

Meanwhile, Sign Of Lanty remains on 16 stakes victories at Los Alamitos after a bruised foot kept him out of the $25,642 Moonshiner Handicap last weekend. The race, which had been won twice previously by Sign Of Lanty, was taken by 2-1 second choice Available Credit.

The picks: 1. Keep It. 2. Doonies Dancer. 3. Party Train. 4. Musical Lady. 5. Babe With Rhythm. 6. Traffic Attraction. 7. Sell Short. 8. Buzzin On By.
