The Sheriff's Black Hat

January 01, 2003

Re "Rap Mogul Calls Arrest Bogus," Dec. 27: I never thought I would be feeling sympathy for Marion "Suge" Knight. I can't stand rap music, and his history is not too savory. But when the L.A. County Sheriff's Department could find nothing after raiding his office and homes (with 175 deputies), they decide to arrest him and pressure him to "talk." Trying to prove you know nothing about a topic is like Iraq trying to prove it has no weapons of mass destruction. It's impossible. It used to be you could tell the good guys from the bad -- the good ones wore white hats. It's hard to tell anymore.
