Santa Ana Mater Dei had its nine-game unbeaten streak ended in a 2-0 loss to Los Angeles Loyola on Saturday, but it's hard to drop the Monarchs too far because only three ranked teams played last week. Santa Barbara defeated Santa Ynez, 4-1, on Friday, and Brea Olinda defeated Burbank Burroughs, 2-0, on Saturday. Loyola's victory over Mater Dei showed the Cubs (7-1-5) to be a quality team, but a 2-0 loss to Long Beach Wilson and several ties to weaker opponents keep them out of the top 10 for now.
