Duane Solomon of Lompoc Cabrillo, the runner-up in the boys' 800 meters in the state track and field championships last year, has committed to Arizona State.

Riverside Poly, No. 4 in the Southland by The Times, will play a boys' soccer team ranked first in the nation for the second time this season when the Bears travel Monday to Santa Margarita for a 3:15 p.m. game.

Poly (10-3-1) defeated previously top-ranked Irvine Woodbridge, 1-0, on Dec. 11. Santa Margarita (16-0) has been first in Student Sports magazine's national rankings for the last three weeks.
