Texas' Jody Conradt became only the second women's coach to win 800 games, reaching that milestone Wednesday night at Austin, Texas, when the No. 17 Longhorns defeated No. 7 Texas Tech, 69-58.
The Longhorns (12-4, 5-0 in the Big 12) ended a 15-game winning streak by the Red Raiders (15-2, 4-1).
Conradt joined Tennessee's Pat Summitt (802) as the only women's coaches in the 800-victory club. Summitt got in Jan. 14 with a victory over DePaul. The 61-year-old Conradt is 800-262 in 34 seasons, with one national championship. She and Summitt started the season tied at 788 victories.
After the final buzzer sounded, player Stacy Stephens dumped a water bucket full of confetti on her coach's head and the crowd chanted "Jody, Jody, Jody."
Only three Division I men's coaches -- Dean Smith of North Carolina, Adolph Rupp of Kentucky and Jim Phelan of Mount St. Mary's -- have 800 or more wins.
