A 37-year-old Camarillo man was being held on suspicion of battery for allegedly biting off part of his roommate's nose and thumb during a post-drinking brawl, authorities said Sunday.

William Severn was arrested about 7 p.m. Friday after fighting with Dan Davis, 45, on Camino Ruiz, near the 101 Freeway in Camarillo, according to Ventura County sheriff's officials.

The roommates started fighting for unknown reasons while driving home, said Sgt. Cary Peterson. Deputies recovered the tips of Davis' nose and thumb at the scene and took them to St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital for possible reattachment.
