Andy Roddick enjoyed a commanding victory leading to Wimbledon, defeating Sebastien Grosjean, 6-3, 6-3, Sunday to win the Queen's Club tournament in London.

It was the second title this year for the hard-serving American who will be a contender when Wimbledon starts June 23.

"I feel I'll be better prepared than I ever have been for Wimbledon," he said. "I'm probably more confident than I ever have been, but you have to guard against that, against overconfidence. I felt pretty good going into Paris as well, and I don't want to talk about that."

Roddick lost in the first round of the French Open three weeks ago.

Sunday, the third-seeded Roddick had 10 aces. Grosjean was quicker but had no answer for Roddick's overpowering serve.

"It was tough for me to return, and he took his chances on my serve because he didn't have a problem winning his own service game," Grosjean said.

Top-seeded Roger Federer of Switzerland won his first grass-court title by defeating Nicolas Kiefer of Germany, 6-1, 6-3, in the final of the Gerry Weber Open at Halle, Germany.

Federer, ranked No. 5, recorded his 43rd match victory this season, tops on the tour.

Kiefer, once ranked No. 4, had won only two matches this season before the tournament, which was played 50 miles from where he was born.

Third-seeded Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria defeated unseeded Shinobu Asagoe of Japan, 6-1, 6-4, in the final of the DFS Classic at Birmingham, England.

It took Maleeva 65 minutes to win her first grass-court title in a tuneup for Wimbledon. She has reached the fourth round the last two years at Wimbledon.

Former champion Goran Ivanisevic and Monica Seles pulled out of Wimbledon because of injuries. Ivanisevic, the 2001 men's winner, withdrew for the second consecutive year, this time because of a knee injury. Seles has been troubled by foot problems.
