June 26, 2003|BOB MIESZERSKI

Resist, dropping out of a couple of tougher races, could be poised to earn his second victory in tonight's seventh race, a $14,150 allowance at 350 yards.

Trained by Donna McArthur for Desirable Properties Inc., the 3-year-old gelding was second, beaten by a nose by Sum Special Strawfly, in the El Primero Del Ano Derby on April 25, then was eliminated by a slow start in the Town Policy Handicap some five weeks later.

Bred in California by Blane Schvaneveldt, Resist will be ridden by Sam Thompson and has seven rivals.

Beaten by a neck June 8 in his last start, Streakin Corona might be the one to beat for leading trainer Paul Jones.

The picks: 1. Red Inx. 2. Cash No Check. 3. Li'l Lulu. 4. Cheatin Game. 5. Backinthecashagain. 6. Invisible Queen. 7. Resist. 8. A Gray Star.

Four! Single Red Inx in the first, use Cash No Check and the Rare Fox-A Lady With Rhythm entry in the second, Wannaknowme and Li'l Lulu in the third and Well In Never, Cheatin Game, Real Quik Dasher and Hez Blazin in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Get Um Injun makes debut for trainer Carlos Lopez in the fifth. Chilly Force should improve with a race under her belt in the eighth.

Post time: 7:15 p.m.
