A consumer's guide to the best and worst of sports media and merchandise. Ground rules: If it can be read, heard, observed, viewed, dialed or downloaded, it's in play here. One exception: No products will be endorsed.

What: "John Wooden: Values, Victories and Peace of Mind."

Where: Channel 28, Sunday, 1 p.m.

This excellent 90-minute documentary has been around for more than a year and will be shown again as part of a PBS pledge drive. It will be shown by Channel 50 March 19 at 11:30 p.m.

The show, narrated by actor Beau Bridges, focuses on a speech by Wooden at the Wooden Center on the UCLA campus two years ago. In the speech, the legendary basketball coach explains his pyramid of success, step by step. The show also offers an in-depth profile of Wooden, featuring rare footage from his youth and his playing days, with testimonies by Phil Jackson, Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

This documentary, which is also available on a videotape that can be purchased at the UCLA bookstore or ordered through www.amazon.com for $29.95, shows that Wooden will be remembered as a great coach -- and also a great philosopher.
