Bugging the U.N.

March 09, 2003

So sainted Father Franklin [President Roosevelt] lobbied to put the United Nations in the U.S. for ease of bugging ("Purported Spy Memo May Add to U.S. Troubles at U.N.," March 4). Imagine, 30 years later, a one-time Whittier lawyer was driven from office because, essentially, he did the same thing as his "role model." As yet another president said, "Life is unfair."
