S&P Says It May Start Rating Pension Funds

March 14, 2003|From Bloomberg News

Standard & Poor's said it might introduce credit ratings for pension funds after increasing expenses and slumping stock markets cost them $2.5 trillion last year.

Discussions are underway with companies and others to see whether there is demand to rate the funds separately, S&P said.

A decision probably will be made by the end of the year.
