HIGHLIGHTS

* Thousand Oaks opened Marmonte League play with a 1-0 victory over Simi Valley Royal. Mandy Kilionski pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Thousand Oaks.

* Chino Don Lugo won the Mira Loma Jurupa Valley tournament with consecutive victories Saturday against San Bernardino Cajon and Temecula Valley. Freshman Brittany Martinez earned both victories, giving up a combined six hits and one run in nine innings.

* Freshman shortstop Bianca Mejia of Sylmar hit for the cycle and had nine runs batted in in a 22-0 victory over Chatsworth. Batting over .500, she now has three homers, two triples, two doubles and 14 RBIs.

HEROICS

* Vanessa Gonzalez had a one-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in Christina Garcia and give Granada Hills Kennedy a 2-1 nonleague victory over Wilmington Banning.

* Lakewood Mayfair's Felicia Reinitz had a two-out game-winning single in a 2-1 nonleague victory over Downey Warren. She also had a double and scored the tying run in the sixth.

ON DECK

* Corona takes on Corona Santiago and its pitcher, Taryne Mowatt, in a Mountain View League showdown on Thursday.
