Bush Seeks $35.8 Million for Baghdad Embassy

Tucked into President Bush's $75-billion war budget request is $35.8 million to reopen the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and provide everything from armored cars to local guards for diplomats.

Washington has not had diplomatic relations with Baghdad since 1990, when Iraq invaded Kuwait, and an American official said the United States would not know whether it would need to build a new embassy until it saw what state the old one was in.
