Korean Woman Loses WWII Sex Slave Case

Japan does not have to compensate or apologize to a Korean woman forced into sexual slavery for seven years by the military during World War II, Japan's top court ruled.

The Supreme Court said Japan does not have to pay $1 million to 80-year-old Song Shin Do because the 20-year statute of limitations for her claim has expired.

The ruling was the court's second this week rejecting compensation demands by Asian victims of Japan's wartime aggression. On Tuesday, it dismissed claims by a group of Koreans.
