"This is not an obsession.

I started this as a hobby," insists Allan Ellenberger, North Hollywood resident and author of "Celebrities in Los Angeles Cemeteries" (McFarland & Co.).

The directory lists resting places for hundreds of some-bodies, along

with obit headlines and appendices such as "Sea Burials, Cremations and Donations to Science." Here's where a few of the bodies are buried.

Atmosphere

Resting place since 1899 to many early Hollywood luminaries. Monuments and headstones abound. Notable recent arrival, Ellenberger says: Punk rock trailblazer Dee Dee Ramone.

"Hogan's Heroes" star Bob Crane started out at Oakwood but his family later had him moved to an unmarked grave at Pierce Brothers after revelations about his personal life gave him a certain notoriety.
