Shooting of Iraqi Boy, 14, Probed

British authorities are investigating an incident in which the BBC reported that a 14-year-old Iraqi boy was shot dead by a British soldier in the southern Iraqi city of Basra.

"There has been a tragic incident involving a British soldier which is being investigated by the Royal Military Police," a Defense Ministry spokesman said.

The BBC reported the boy, Ali Salim, was shot in a suburb of the city near a school used by troops of the Queen's Dragoon Guards. No further details were immediately available.
