May 22, 2003|From Times Staff Reports

A former Internal Revenue Service criminal investigator was arrested Wednesday on charges of covering up off-duty escapades with Hollywood hookers and the theft of his unmarked government car by one of them.

Kenneth Fazende, 44, was arrested in Puerto Rico and was expected to be returned to Los Angeles to face four federal charges carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.

In June 2001, the indictment said, a 16-year-old prostitute stole his keys and made off with his unmarked IRS car after he left her alone in his apartment.
