Game Maker 3DO Files for Chapter 11

May 29, 2003|Alex Pham

Video game developer 3DO Co. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The Redwood City, Calif., company had subsisted for the last several months with loans from its founder, Trip Hawkins, a former senior executive at Electronic Arts Inc. "We are focused on pursuing either the sale of the entire company or the sale of its assets," Hawkins said.

A listing of assets and liabilities was not available.

3DO, which makes "High Heat Baseball" and is developing "Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse," had sales of less than $10 million in the quarter ended in March and about $30 million for the year, Hawkins said this month. It is scheduled to release full-year earnings in June.
