Where bowling is not uncool

Hot off the heels of his recent Playstation 2 and 50 Cent bash at the Viceroy Hotel, clubland party guru Josh Richman hosted a wunderbar shindig last week for the grand opening of the Lucky Strike Lanes. The retro-style bowling alley and nightclub is in the Hollywood & Highland complex, and such luminaries as Johnny Ramone, Fred Durst, Kelly Osbourne and Vince Vaughn were on hand to flex their mad skills. Stee-rike! (Of course, not everyone got in. For the details, see Page 23.).... While traipsing about Tinsel Town last week, I noticed all the bimbos and himbos were sporting trucker-type baseball caps. Blame it on Ashton Kutcher, who rocks 'em each time he appears on the scene. Hooked up with a way cool rap-metal group out on the scene called Nero. Don't miss the hard-core crew's performance at Dragonfly on Saturday.... Those who just can't get enough of DJ Morty's funky stuff can follow him to the Kibitz Room at Canter's, where he reigns supreme on Tuesday nights. Morty, the former singer of the Untouchables, is gaining a big reputation for his New Wave sets at Dragonfly on Sundays.

The hottest Brit pop club around

Singer's band -- The Buzz Clubs column in Thursday's Calendar Weekend misidentified the band for which DJ Morty was lead singer. Morty was singer for the Imposters, not the Untouchables.

We hear Underground, the mod club at Tempest on Friday nights, is the hottest Brit pop club around.... Took a walk on the wild side to downtown's SA Studios, the home of tattoo artist Mister Cartoon and photojournalist Estevan Oriol, who also own a popular clothing line called Joker Brand. Turns out some not-so-funny joker is already knocking off their fab Joker 69 fashions. The wannabe duds are turning up with "Joker 77" labels.... We hear DJ Chris Paul's Friday night sets at the Argyle are so dope, Dr. Dre's one of his biggest fans.... The Buzzcocks are gonna be at the Viper Room on June 7. And the beat goes on.
