The toddler who was mistakenly pronounced dead after nearly drowning last week in Fullerton is in remarkably good shape, according to her family's attorney.
Brian Oxman said tests show that 20-month-old Mackayala Jespersen suffered no gross abnormalities to her brain and "will be able to communicate and take care of herself."
Oxman said it could take as long as 10 days before doctors can determine if Mackayala will suffer speech impairment or have trouble walking or grasping objects.
The child remained in critical but stable condition Monday at Anaheim Memorial Hospital.
