* Energy company Mirant Corp., which has filed for bankruptcy protection, says it has suspended plans to rebuild the aging Potrero power plant in San Francisco. It cited the weak electricity market and the company's financial condition.

* Faced with deeper discounts on rival vehicles, Ford Motor Co. increased discounts on the 2004 F-150 pickup truck, one of its most profitable vehicles, two months after introducing a version that was supposed to reduce the need for such incentives.
