Hornets' Backcourt Cuts Down Nets

With Baron Davis among the NBA leaders in scoring, fellow New Orleans Hornet guard David Wesley is getting a lot of open shots.

Davis had 25 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, and Wesley made two late three-point baskets to lead the Hornets to an 88-85 victory over the New Jersey Nets on Tuesday night at East Rutherford, N.J.

Richard Jefferson led the Nets with 16 points.

Minnesota 89, Denver 76 -- Kevin Garnett had 26 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists at Minneapolis to help the Timberwolves to their first victory over a conference opponent.

The Timberwolves, 5-1 against the Eastern Conference, are 1-4 against the West.

Nikoloz Tskitishvili led Denver with 14 points.

San Antonio 94, Golden State 81 -- Tim Duncan had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Spurs used a 20-2 fourth-quarter run to take control at San Antonio. Erick Dampier led the Warriors with 21 points and 17 rebounds.

Atlanta 101, Milwaukee 93 -- Shareef Abdur-Rahim had 27 points and 11 rebounds as the Hawks ended a nine-game losing streak at Milwaukee's Bradley Center. Tim Thomas had 17 points for the Bucks.

Phoenix 95, Chicago 82 -- Amare Stoudemire scored nine of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, and the Suns ended a three-game losing streak by beating the Bulls at Phoenix. Kendall Gill had 23 points for the Bulls.

Miami 105, Seattle 98 -- Lamar Odom had 21 points as the Heat used a 29-19 fourth quarter to win at Seattle. Ronald Murray had 31 points for Seattle.
