November 20, 2003|From Times Wire Reports

SOUTH KOREA

Hundreds of farmers and police pummeled each other with sticks during a protest in Seoul against World Trade Organization negotiations and a free-trade deal with Chile, which the farmers claim could threaten their livelihoods by flooding the market with cheap goods.

About 30 injuries were reported on each side. Police also detained about 100 protesters.
