UNITED NATIONS

The U.N. Security Council unanimously endorsed the stalled "road map" plan to settle the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The plan, drafted by Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union, aims to end more than three years of Mideast violence and establish a Palestinian state.

Israel called for an end to terrorism and said the resolution wouldn't help. Nasser Kidwa, the Palestinian envoy to the U.N., praised the measure.
