Lynwood scored three fourth-quarter touchdowns in a span of four minutes Friday night to rally for a 38-28 victory over Rolling Hills Estates Peninsula in a Southern Section Division III playoff opener at Lynwood Middle School.

Marcello Simmons secured the victory by returning an onside kick 55 yards for a touchdown with 4:15 to play for the game's final score. Lynwood (10-0-1) will play host to fourth-seeded Sherman Oaks Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.

Peninsula (5-3-3) had rallied from a 17-6 halftime deficit to take a 20-17 lead on Dane Morck's 11-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter.

After Lynwood scored twice to take a 31-20 lead, Jordan Munde's 44-yard touchdown run and following conversion run with 4:22 to play made it 31-28. Munde had 183 yards in 28 carries to set a school season rushing record with 2,111 yards.
