Southland sales brisk as prices keep on rising

Good news continues on the home front. Sales of homes in Southern California continued briskly in October, hitting the highest level for any October since 1988, when DataQuick Information Systems began tracking residential sales.

A total of 32,522 homes were sold in Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties last month. That was down 0.9% from 32,813 in September but up 12% from 29,048 for October a year ago.

The median Southern California sales price in October was $333,000, up 19.8% from a year ago.

The median price in Los Angeles in October was $332,000, up 21.6% from the previous year; Orange County, $440,000, up 19.2%; San Diego, $387,000, up 14.2%; Riverside, $262,000, up 19.1%; San Bernardino, $204,000, up 24.4%; and Ventura, $401,000, up 21.1%.
