November 28, 2003|From Times Wire Reports

Sixteen families were left homeless on Thanksgiving after a predawn fire ravaged an apartment complex in this small city about 50 miles north of San Francisco.

No injuries were reported, said Rodger Doncaster, director of disaster service for the Sonoma County Red Cross.

The blaze broke out at 4:40 a.m. Thursday in a 16-unit building of the 348-unit Parkridge Apartments complex, said Jim Simpson, operations manager for R.W. Zukin, which manages the complex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No damage estimates have been made.
