Recall Q&a

If Gov. Gray Davis is recalled, does his successor have the right to make new Cabinet and agency appointments?

October 05, 2003|Allison Hoffman

Yes. According to the governor's appointments office, the governor is entitled to make about 1,400 discretionary appointments at the start of his term. So if the recall is approved, the new governor could replace some or all of those officials.
