Thinking and Acting Locally

October 12, 2003

Thank you, Jonathan Prince, NBC and NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker for going to bat for all the entertainment industry employees who are out of jobs and have been for a long time because our runaway production is now supporting Canada and Australia (" 'Dreams' May Hint at What Lies Ahead for Merger," Oct. 9).

L.A. is hurting, and it is not just the entertainment industry's former employees. It is the restaurants they no longer frequent, yard services they no longer use, season tickets they no longer buy, clothes they no long purchase, trips that aren't taken, movies that are missed because that $20 can buy a couple of days of groceries for your family.

Sacramento, how about giving the film and television industries incentives to stay here?

As nice as it is to fuel other countries' economies, let us learn a lesson from Prince, Zucker and NBC and fuel our own economy -- we need it.
