From the drawing board to Gehry's final designs

September 04, 2003|Lisa Boone

"Frank O. GEHRY: Work in Progress," opening Sunday at the Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown Los Angeles, highlights the architect's design process through an examination of his firm's most current work. Focusing on 10 to 12 projects, the exhibition, composed of sketches, photographs, study models and final design models, traces the evolution of Gehry Partners' recent work from inception to final design.

Sunday's opening will also feature "First Sundays for Families," a workshop in which kids can design a building with Alla Kazovsky, principal architect of Kids StudioWorks. The exhibition runs through Jan. 26. Located at 250 S. Grand Ave., the museum is open Fridays and Mondays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. $5 to $8; children younger than 12, free.
