Nelson, Lin Commit to USC, UCLA Tennis

Villa Park senior Lindsey Nelson, the Southern Section singles runner-up the last two seasons, has committed to USC and Anaheim Canyon senior Tracy Lin, who won the section singles title in 2001, has committed to UCLA.

Lin, the runner-up with Lejla Hodzic of Cupertino in the girls' 18 doubles competition at the Easter Bowl/USTA Super National Championships in April, considered UCLA, Cal and Northwestern.

Nelson, who teamed with Chatsworth resident Jessica Nguyen for a runner-up finish in girls' 18 doubles at the USTA Super National Hard Court Championships and led a team of Southern California players to the Junior Federation Cup title last month, chose USC over UCLA and UC Irvine. She also considered Cal and Northwestern.

Fox Sports Net 2 will telecast 10 high school football games this season, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday with the rematch between Los Alamitos and Newhall Hart, which tied, 21-21, last year.
