$35 Million Approved for Park Programs

September 16, 2003|From Times Staff Reports

The Rivers and Mountains Conservancy on Monday approved spending $35 million in state bond money to add more green space and create environmental programs in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The $35 million will go toward spaces for biking, hiking and walking, park restoration, open-space expansion and the improvement of gardens and historic parks, according to the California Resources Agency.

The money comes from Proposition 40 and Proposition 50, which, between them, provided more than $6 billion for improving neighborhood parks and water quality.
