College Football Spotlight | HEISMAN WATCH

September 28, 2003|Jim Barrero

THE HYPE

Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame

Sans the Beano Cook endorsement (where have you gone, Ron Powlus?), a South Bend mailing address produces built-in hype. Quinn could be the next big thing, but 297 yards in 59 attempts and four interceptions won't do it just yet.

THE TYPE

Michael Turner, RB, N. Illinois

With the MAC on the minds of voters like never before, Turner has rushed into the spotlight with 519 yards in four games for the undefeated Huskies. That he has done it against BCS teams in three of four games definitely scores extra points.
