LETTERS TO THE TIMES

Bush Should Look to Needs in U.S. First

August 04, 2004

Re "Powell Pledges to Speed Flow of Funds," July 31: How dare the Bush administration put Iraq before our own country! At a time when our own hospitals are closing, our schools are falling apart, kids are going to bed hungry, the homeless population keeps expanding and millions are unemployed, Bush officials would rather spend billions of taxpayer money to "jump-start Iraq's economy and win support for American efforts" there.

I am infuriated that President Bush cares more about Iraq and his illegal war than his own citizens. And the right wing thinks it is the Democrats who have engendered hatred toward Bush? I think he is doing quite fine on his own.
