The Personal Side of the Workers' Comp Story

August 05, 2004

Your editorial about the trials and tribulations of workers' comp benefits in California (Aug. 2) leaves out the important fact that many workers are completely disabled from their injuries and cannot return to their jobs. It also leaves out the important fact that many injured workers who do try to return to work are discriminated against on the job in direct violation of California Labor Code 132(a).

I'm an injured worker who has served my community and country well for more than 34 years. I fell down two flights of concrete steps in January 1997 and the case has still not been adjudicated. I'm completely disabled from my fall and unable to work. Why don't you print stories like mine and those of others who are suffering physically and financially?
