Questions for the NBA

August 25, 2004

Re "Dream Team Betrays Basketball's Beauty," Commentary, Aug. 22: I just read Pat Jordan's Op-Ed article, and although I'm neither a fan nor knowledgeable of the finer aspects of the game, I still have some questions: Why isn't the NBA hiring more of those skillful foreign players? Wouldn't they be more deserving of the big bucks?

Boxing has weight classes, so why doesn't basketball have height classes with the hoops at different heights? It would be a fair system demanding more skill and cunning from the players.

What is so special about taller and taller players just plopping the ball down the hoop?
