Silly rock lyrics know no bounds

WKND FEEDBACK

July 29, 2004

I laughed out loud at Casey Dolan's review of " Kill Your Idols" ("Rock's Gods Made Mortal," July 22). I'm glad I'm not the only rock music fan who got twitchy hearing Robert Plant croon, "Oooh, and it makes me wonder ... " for the millionth time.

My favorite silly rock lyrics are "Horse Latitudes" by the Doors: "When the still sea conspires an armor / And her sullen and aborted currents breed tiny monsters / True sailing is dead...." The fact that Jim Morrison screams the entire song makes it even better.
