Dieter's Lawsuit

June 01, 2004

Re "Atkins Diet Accused as Threat to Health," May 28: A businessman who weighed 148 pounds, with cholesterol at 146, thought he needed to go on a diet? He became "seduced with bacon-wrapped cheeseburgers" mentioned in the Atkins books in an effort to lose weight? He kept eating high-fat foods for two years after getting blood tests showing his cholesterol rose 58% within just the first two months? (Who was his doctor?)

Did he read the Atkins books' chapters on nutritional supplements that include recommendations for cholesterol controls? The level of Jody Gorran's common sense makes me question just how successful his career as a businessman has been.
