A woman wanted for child abduction in Maryland was arrested Tuesday in Riverside.

Margarita Maria Peterson, 35, allegedly abducted her 10-year-old son, Rayon Gray, near Baltimore in October, after the boy's father left him for a visit.

Riverside police say Peterson enrolled her son at Longfellow Elementary School in Riverside, but went into hiding with her son in May when the television show "America's Most Wanted" broadcast a story of the missing boy and he was recognized.

Police said Peterson is refusing to disclose the location of her son. Peterson says her son may harm himself if he learns she has been arrested, police said. Investigators were expected to search a San Bernardino home where Peterson may have been living.

She will be prosecuted in Maryland, police said.
