We All Lose if Cops Have All the Power By Larry Dudley Hiibel, Larry Dudley Hiibel, a cattle rancher, was the plaintiff in Hiibel vs. Nevada, which was decided by the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday. His attorneys argued that Hiibel did not have to answer the questions put to him by the police, but the court ruled, 5 to 4, that the police had made a "common-sense" inquiry and that Americans do not always have the right to remain silent.
