Juarez Workers' Safety

March 03, 2004

Re "Mexico Must Reach Out," editorial, Feb. 27: Perhaps it should be the U.S. companies that are exploiting Mexican women laborers in Juarez who should do more to protect them. They get away with paying these people pocket change so that it does not appear that America is still involved in the slave trade.

Surely these companies could afford free shuttle service for their workers, decent work hours and a few other security measures. If they cared about their workers they would do something, but in reality they only care about profits.
