California's average pump price edged higher by three-tenths of a penny, reaching $2.112 for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline, according to a weekly Energy Department survey.
The gas price average has climbed 51.7 cents a gallon during the last 10 weeks, nearing the state record of $2.145 a gallon set nearly a year ago as measured by the Energy Information Administration, the Energy Department's statistical arm. The price surge has been blamed on refinery glitches and high crude oil prices.
