Illegal Immigration Hurts Indian Tribe

March 24, 2004

Re "A Tribe Caught in Middle," March 21: Haven't the Indians suffered enough? Immigrants from Europe took most of their land long ago, and now immigrants are once again encroaching on the little land that they have left. The least the government can do is ensure that the reservations are left undisturbed by outside influences and let the Indians live in peace. After all, they were here first.

A Mexican agent said that 3,090 immigrants recently crossed the border in a single day, and this is just one area of the border. How many millions is that each year? It's obvious that this is not going to stop, since President Bush and many members of Congress think that the answer is another amnesty for illegal aliens. How long will it be before the U.S. becomes a corrupt, poor country like Mexico?
