LONG BEACH
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has ruled that the federal government had sole authority over approving liquefied natural gas facilities.
The commission rejected the California Public Utilities Commission's assertion that companies seeking to build an LNG terminal at the Port of Long Beach must win state as well as federal approval.
FERC said in a statement that it would work with California officials and local agencies in reviewing the application by Sound Energy Solutions to build the terminal.
