Game Of The Week

OTTAWA at PHILADELPHIA, FRIDAY

March 30, 2004|HELENE ELLIOTT

This will be their first game since March 5, when they combined for a league-record 419 penalty minutes. Afterward, Flyer GM Bob Clarke had to be restrained from going after Senator Coach Jacques Martin beneath the stands. NHL executives will watch this closely. If the teams stick to playing, this could be a good game that will affect playoff seedings. Both are formidable offensively but have serious questions about their goaltending, especially since Ottawa's Patrick Lalime sprained his left knee last Saturday. Philadelphia's Robert Esche has been shaky and midseason acquisition Sean Burke has been disappointing.
