An 87-year-old woman crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a La Jolla hotel Thursday, injuring herself and three others.
The woman, whose name was not released, drove her car into the La Valencia Hotel about 1:30 p.m.
San Diego police spokesman Gary Hassen said the woman was backing her car out of the hotel parking lot when she struck a vehicle. Hassen said the woman shifted into drive and accelerated onto the hotel sidewalk, hitting three women and slamming into a wall.
"Everyone was yelling, 'Get out of the way! Get out of the way!' " one witness told a TV reporter. One pedestrian suffered two broken legs while the other two had minor injuries. The driver suffered head and chest injuries, Hassen said.
