Stephanie Ramos and Jodie Lesaspi had run-scoring singles in the first inning for the Bruins (45-9).

Goerl (29-7), who threw a no-hitter in last year's 1-0 title game victory over California, was perfect through three innings before LaDonia Hughes reached on a bunt single to lead off the fourth.

LSU (55-11) threatened in the sixth when Camille Harris led off with a single and Hughes followed with a double. But Goerl struck out Lauren Castle and Leslie Klein and got Julie Wiese to ground out to end the inning.

UCLA will play California in the semifinals on Sunday. The Golden Bears (52-11) advanced with a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma.

Vicky Galindo, who homered in the third inning for California's first run, scored the winning run on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth inning.
