High School Blaze Was Apparently Set

An apparent arson fire swept through a media center at Cypress High School on Sunday, causing nearly $1 million in damage, fire investigators said.

Fire broke out about 10:30 a.m. on an exterior wall and worked its way into the center, said Capt. Stephen Miller, a Orange County Fire Authority spokesman.

Investigators found evidence of arson outside the building, Miller said.

Damage was estimated at $700,000 to the structure and $200,000 to the contents.

Miller said two adjacent classrooms that housed computers also sustained smoke damage.
