September 04, 2004|Paul Gutierrez

at Columbus, 4:30 p.m. PDT, Channel 9

Site -- Crew Stadium.

Radio -- KMPC (1540), KMXE (830, Spanish).

Records -- Galaxy 9-6-8, Crew 7-5-10.

Record vs. Crew -- 1-0-1.

Update -- The Galaxy's scoreless tie at home with the Crew on Aug. 14 spelled the end for former coach Sigi Schmid, who was fired two days later and replaced by Steve Sampson. Sampson promised a change in formation for his first road game. The Galaxy lineup will be missing six prominent players -- forwards Alejandro Moreno (Venezuela) and Carlos Ruiz (Guatemala), midfielder Cobi Jones (United States) and defender Tyrone Marshall (Jamaica) will be with their national teams for World Cup qualifying matches, and midfielders Paul Broome and Marcelo Saragosa are out because of caution points accumulation. The Crew, on a 10-match unbeaten streak, will be without midfielder Frankie Hejduk (U.S.) and forward Erick Scott (Costa Rica) because of national team call-ups.
